Our clients experience such excitement when they first meet our therapy horses. Gradually, they gain the confidence, strength, skill and freedom that comes with riding a thousand-pound animal.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy at Unbridled
The moment a child meets a horse for the first time, they are immersed in a new sensory experience and can work toward their goals in unique ways. By brushing or feeding a horse, they work toward fine motor control and muscle strengthening. When they begin to ride, they experience complex benefits related to sensory processing, coordination, balance, regulation and so much more.

The rhythmic movements of a horse’s walk provides unparalleled strengthening and postural control benefits. Therapists can alter the child’s riding position on the horse to increase range of motion and strengthen different muscle systems.
Pediatric Speech Therapy at Unbridled
Through improvements in body stability and breathing control, hippotherapy offers benefits for children receiving speech therapy. The social skills involved in caring for horses in cooperation with therapists, handlers, and other clients provide a unique opportunity for children to target those skills. The emotional bonds that form with the horses also promote social-emotional language development.
